The headline reads;
Torben Chris: Danish comedian posts photo of himself taking a bath with his two-year-old daughter in face of 'paedophilia' claims
by Emma Henderson Wednesday 16 December 2015, published Independent Online (link above)
Is it just a Danish concept? That having a bath with your kid is borderline paedophilia? That kissing your kid is sexual? What absolute baloney! I've seen a few articles in this vein and they really annoy me, they pull on my want for honesty and justice. Being a parent is hard enough work as it is, fraught with mines in an unknown territory and nobody gave me a manual, let alone an OS map.

'Parents warned kissing children on the lips is 'too sexual' and could confuse them' - Say's a psychologist...in her book...to the Sun?
Right, so this article is just about slating the Sun? I can almost get on board with that.
But wait, step back for a moment. What if your kid says in school that they share a bath with their Daddy? What will the teachers think and if the other parents hear..?
In the book mentioned; ‘The Power of Your Child’s Imagination: How to Transform Stress and Anxiety Into Joy and Success’,
She says it might cause a child to think: “If mommy kisses daddy on the mouth and vice versa, what does that mean, when I, a little girl or boy, kiss my parents on the mouth.”
Well I hope that this means the child is in a loving environment and that is the main lesson, right? At what point did it become OK to add more worries founded in adult perception of sexuality to a kids learning curve?
These articles should not lead with such a loaded headlines, it is a cruel trick used to gain readers and the readers who would fall for the trick are new mothers, who are sleep deprived, self-critical hormonal and probably looking for some solace if browsing the web’s wonderful insights.
As a family unit we should teach confidence, honesty, knowledge and trust. That means being able to talk about the fact Mums and Dad wee in different ways or when the kids are older what safe sex means for young people. Teach a kid to hide from you while they pee and they will hide from you forever.
The flip side of this for me as a new parent was my 3 year old following any guest to the toilet. Which meant a conversation, some re-direction and a couple of awkward ‘whose there, oh sugar’ moments from the toilet. This is natural curiosity. If you can tell a child not to run in the road or put their hands in the dirt you can tell them not to follow friends/others to the loo.

I am still brewing Bop in my sub concious
He has many forms now, young imp, elderly disillusioned grump and the ever hopeful youth in between.
I like this leprechaun as an inspiration for how he will be drawn, though without the rabbit like nose and mouth, something a little more androgynous.
Some notes I made previously are in the post
